Andrew Nevins (University College London). The LSA has defined my career, from my first successful job interview, to organizing a session at the Annual Meeting, to serving as Program Committee Chair. Most rewarding presently is my editorial role forPhonological Data & Analysis, recently publishing 5 articles on languages from the Amazon to the Caucasus to Taiwan, bringing new empirical insights to the field.

LSA (4)

LSA has filed an amicus brief in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals regarding a Florida law barring transgender and non-binary teachers from stating their chosen pronouns or titles in the classroom. Contrary to Florida’s contentions, linguistic science demonstrates that pronouns are not making objective truth claims about biological characteristics, nor are they difficult for children to learn.

FAQs

Is more LSA better? ›

Wider LSA:

Broadens powerband. Decrease chance of engine knock. Decrease cranking compression. Idle vacuum and quality is improved.

What does higher LSA do? ›

The higher the LSA the higher the power band. Meaning you're power would be gained up top. The lower the lsa would give you a choppier idle but your power curve would kick in earlier.

What is the best lobe separation angle for drag racing? ›

A lobe separation of 110 degrees seems to be ideal when net duration is between 220 and 228 degrees, and 112 degrees is advantageous with net duration above 228 degrees.

What lobe separation is best for torque? ›

Typically, narrower lobe separation develops peak torque at lower rpm and widening the separation tends to build peak torque higher in the rpm range. Nitrous engines, which make plenty of power and torque, often run wide lobe separation angles to moderate cylinder pressures and temperatures.

How does LSA affect idle? ›

From what I've done, LSA has very little effect on idle. It's the intake closing that causes low speed issues. If the intake valve is still open, and the port can't overcome the upward movement of the piston, you get reversion.

Does advancing cam timing increase torque? ›

Advancing or retarding the cam will move the Torque curve higher or lower in the rpm range.

How much HP does LSA add? ›

What is the most efficient LSA? ›

  • Flight Design F2: 24.4 nmpg. ...
  • Remos GX: 23.2 nmpg. ...
  • Mooney M20G: 15.8 nmpg. ...
  • Cessna 172P: 15 nmpg. ...

What is considered a tight LSA? ›

Combined with Duration, the LSA determines Valve Overlap. This overlap has a significant impact on Engine Vacuum and idle quality. Camshafts with a "tight" LSA (106° - 109°) will usually have more overlap. Camshafts with a "wide" LSA (110° - 118°) will have less overlap.
